Here are five spine and neurosurgeons who recently received awards, promotions or made media appearances:

The American Board of Neurological Surgery elected Steven Kalkanis, MD, to serve as its director for a six-year term.

CV Sciences welcomed UPMC neurosurgeon Joseph Maroon, MD, to its board of directors.

The radio show Behind Closed Doors featured James Petros, MD.

The North American Spine Society named Chukwuka Okafor, MD, as one of the top 20 spine physicians aged 40 years old and younger.

Jay Jagannathan, MD, is being featured on a 9&10 News segment every week from Aug. 20 to Dec. 10.
