Andrew Hecht, MD, is chief of spine surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Five things to know about him:

1. Dr. Hecht earned his medical degree and completed his residency at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He has fellowship training from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Emory University Spine Center in Atlanta.

2. Dr. Hecht is a spine consultant to the New York Jets, New York Islanders and New York Dragons. He also works with collegiate teams.

3. His clinical interests include cervical and lumbar spine surgery, minimally invasive techniques and spine trauma and tumors.

4. Dr. Hecht has 116 publications, and his research interests include cervical and lumbar spine surgery and intervertebral disc biology.

5. Dr. Hecht is a professor at the Ichan School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
