The Agili-C implant is made from a form of calcium carbonate derived from coral exoskeletons and is used to support bone remodeling and cartilage regeneration. It was debuted in the U.S. in July 2023 by Ken Zaslav, MD.

Dr. Lee is a professor of orthopedic surgery and chief of the sports medicine division at UC Davis Health. She performed the procedure on Alicia McHatton, a neonatal nurse at UC Davis Health, according to a March 22 news release.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
