8 medtech notes: Stryker, Orthofix and more

Here are eight key updates from spine and orthopedic devicemakers since March 13:

1. Ortho Development earned FDA 510(k) clearance for its Trivecta hip system.

2. Bioretec earned the FDA's breakthrough device designation for its RemeOs spinal interbody cage.

3. Lucas Vitale joined Orthofix as chief people and business operations officer.

4. Carlsmed raised $52.5M in series C funding and will use the money to develop patient-specific cervical implants.

5. Spineart raised $22.5 million in convertible financing shortly after finishing enrollment for its cervical disc replacement trial.

6. PathKeeper Surgical inked a know-how partnership with Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic to research radiation in pediatric spine surgeries.

7. Stryker completed its acquisition of Serf SaS.

8. The UFC and Smith+Nephew inked a multiyear marketing partnership.
