After recently receiving FDA approval, Medacta announced its Unconstrained Screw Technology Sacro-Iliac Joint Screw System was used in its first sacroiliac joint fusion surgery.

Here are five highlights:

2. The MUST Sacro-Iliac Joint System is designed to treat patients suffering from degenerative sacroiliitis, sacroiliac joint disruptions and degenerative sacroiliac arthritis.

3. The system features screws coated with porous and rough hydroxyapatite, designed with hollow-body and multiple fenestrated patterned shafts to promote biological fixation.

4. Medacta also designed the system to include self-tapping screws that have radial windowed slots to optimize surrounding bone access, which allows for further bone growth.

5. The MUST Sacro-Iliac Joint System expands on the company's current MUST Screw System portfolio.
