The Institution of Mechanical Engineers honored DePuy Synthes for its dedication to encouraging women to join its research and development team as engineers, according to Bdaily News.

1. Michael Barker, MD, worldwide vice president of research and development for DePuy Synthes joint reconstruction and power tools accepted ImechE's certification for

employee engagement.


2. DePuy Synthes' research and development team in Beeston, Leeds is 37 percent female. The national average for female engineers in the U.K. is 11 percent.


3. The device company was recognized for its Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing, Math and Design program.


4. DePuy Synthes encourages women to join their engineering team through healthcare insight visits, workshops and career spotlight talks at schools.
