Spinal Simplicity in Overland Park, Kan., introduced a new generation of the Minuteman G3 fusion device with FDA-cleared coating of hydroxyapatite.
Here are five things to know:
1. Spinal Simplicity has sterile packed implant integration to avoid issues with sterile pack processing that could save time and money.
2. The implant is designed for minimally invasive interspinous-interlaminar fusion for a temporary fixation of the thoracic, lumbar and sacral spine while waiting for bony fixation to occur.
3. The device is designed to attach to the posterior non-cervical spine at the spinous process through its bilateral locking plates. It can be placed under fluoroscopy through a lateral minimally invasive or posterior minimally invasive approach.
4. Several surgeons have successfully implanted the device, including Omar Osmani, MD, of New Mexico; Elizabeth Trinidad, MD, of Florida; Larry Khoo, MD, of California; and Randolph Bishop, MD, of Georgia.
5. The system comes with a wide range of sizes for enhanced anatomical fit.
