Ridgeview, Twin Cities Orthopedics to build orthopedic facility

Alan Condon -

Minneapolis-based Twin Cities Orthopedics and Ridgeview, a four-hospital system, are developing an orthopedic institute on the health system's Chaska, Minn., campus.

The facility, slated to open in October 2023, will be Minnesota's first dedicated orthopedic center that is a partnership between an independent practice and a health system, according to a June 23 news release.

A fifth floor with 20 hospital beds and six new operating rooms is being added to the Two Twelve Medical Center building to house the orthopedic institute. The fourth floor will also undergo renovations to accommodate expanded clinical and support services for the institute.

"The development of the Orthopedic Institute in partnership with TCO is a key initiative in Ridgeview’s strategic plan to strengthen and enhance our care capabilities, and create capacity for future growth across our healthcare system," Ridgeview President and CEO Michael Phelps said in the release.

Waconia, Minn.-based Ridgeview will staff clinical and ancillary services to support the institute's operations. Twin Cities Orthopedics physicians will provide surgical services and care coordination, according to the release.
