Orthopedic

Most orthopedic physicians say coding and documentation is causing friction to their practice and interfering with patient interactions, according to a quantitative study from Robin Healthcare.

Four things to know:

1. The study surveyed 300 physicians with medical degrees who are members of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, according to an April 11 news release. Physicians were surveyed in February.

2. Eighty percent of orthopedists surveyed said they believe medical note-taking interferes with their patient interactions.

3. Seventy-one percent of orthopedists say medical coding brings friction to the effective practice of medicine.

4. Seventy-three percent of orthopedic physicians said they have had to use time outside of work hours to complete notes and documentation.
