The state of orthopedics in Florida: 4 notes

Florida has been a hot spot for orthopedic growth with groups including Philadelphia-based Rothman Orthopaedic Institute and New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery setting up shop in the state.

The state is also home to leading hospitals for orthopedic care and an abundance of orthopedic ASCs.

Four facts to know:

1. Tampa General Hospital was named the best hospital for orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report.

2. Florida is among the most densely populated states with ASCs that perform total joint replacements. Other top states are California and Texas.

3. Florida has 318 orthopedic ASCs and 14.76 orthopedic ASCs per 1 million people.

4. The average annual salary for orthopedic surgeons in Florida was $481,500 as of Feb. 25, according to salary.com.
