From a new president of an orthopedic society to a patent awarded for an innovative device, here are the latest orthopedic surgeons making headlines:

Bruce Cohen, MD, was named president of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society and will serve on the board of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation.

Niagara Falls (N.Y.) Memorial Medical Center appointed William Wind, MD, medical director of sports medicine services.

Rockford-based OrthoIllinois' Scott Trenhaile, MD, received a U.S. patent for a surgical suture anchor that will be produced by Smith+Nephew.

Richard Edelson, MD, repaired the right anterior cruciate ligament of Portland Timbers midfielder Sebastian Blanco.
