Here are four orthopedic group mergers in the past month.

ThedaCare is merging with Appleton-based Hand to Shoulder Center of Wisconsin and Neenah, Wis.-based Neuroscience Group to form a spine, orthopedic and pain hospital in Appleton. With the merger, Appleton-based ThedaCare plans to open a $144 million facility that will feature medical offices, a specialty surgery center and an orthopedic and spine hospital to open in 2021.

Raleigh (N.C.) Orthopaedic Clinic and Cary (N.C.) Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Specialists signed an agreement to merge in early November. The new combined group will feature 40 physicians, more than 600 employees, 11 orthopedic clinic and urgent care facilities and two ASCs. The merger will be completed by spring 2020.

Nine surgeons from Northtowns Orthopedics and one surgeon that previously practiced at Buffalo Orthopaedic Group, both based in New York, merged to form Excelsior Orthopaedics in October. The Amherst, N.Y.-based group has seven offices in Western New York and 90 providers, which includes 22 physicians.

Beverly Hills-based California Elite Pain & Spine Institute merged with BioHealth Pain Management. BioHealth Pain Management is the practice of Rostam Khoshsar, MD, with locations in Lawndale, Calif., and Whittier, Calif. The combined organization plans to open a surgery center called Biohealth Surgical Institute soon.
