Here are nine orthopedic surgeons making the news this week.

Orthopedic trauma surgeon and U.S. Senate candidate Manny Sethi, MD, will step down as president and CEO of Nashville, Tenn.-based nonprofit Healthy Tennessee. Dr. Sethi's U.S Senate campaign will focus on repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, combating the opioid epidemic and tackling the immigration crisis along the southern border.

Orthopedic surgeon Geoffrey Abrams, MD, joined the scientific advisory board at Endonovo Therapeutics. Dr. Abrams will help develop a clinical trial of the company's SofPulse technology for postoperative pain.

Salem (Ohio) Regional Medical Center added Jason Boyd, MD, to its medical staff. Dr. Boyd is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and joins Lee Simon, MD, and Dominic Peters, MD, at the Orthopaedic Bone & Joint Center at the hospital.

Orthopedic surgeon Todd Schmidt, MD, served as the medical director for the 2019 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game Aug. 31. OrthoAtlanta served as the medicine provider of the game since 2008.

New Berlin, Wis.-based Aspen Orthopedic Specialists added fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon Justin Peterson, DO, to its medical staff. Dr. Peterson treats acute and chronic injuries and conditions of the hip, knee and shoulder.

Orthopedic surgeon Ryan Lilly, MD, joined his father Charles Lilly, MD, at Central Michigan Orthopaedics in Union Charter Township. CMO now features three board certified orthopedic surgeons and one nurse practitioner.

Alexandria, Minn.-based Heartland Orthopedic Specialists is adding nonsurgical sports medicine specialist John Harvey, MD, to its staff. He provides an array of nonsurgical orthopedic treatments, including platelet-rich plasma and ultrasound-guided injections.

Salem, Ore.-based Hope Orthopedics welcomed Daniel Elkin, MD, to its practice. Dr. Elkin is a fellowship-trained sports medicine surgeon specializing in the treatment of shoulder, elbow, hip and knee conditions.

Alexandria, Va.-based Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic will add nonsurgical orthopedic clinician Ryan Hubbard, MD, to its staff in October. Dr. Hubbard is the first nonsurgical orthopedic clinician in Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic's 80-year history.
