Bay Shore, N.Y.-based Southside Hospital opened a joint replacement unit, according to Long Island Business News.
Three things to know:
1. The nine-room unit is designed as a recovery space for joint replacement surgery patients.
2. The joint replacement program is part of New York City-based Northwell Health's Orthopaedic Institute at the hospital, which treats orthopedic fracture and trauma patients.
3. Northwell Health's Orthopaedic Institute also treats foot and ankle, shoulder and elbow, spine, hand and wrist and sports medicine patients.
