AOF appoints Dr. Steven Heithoff to board of directors: 5 notes

The American Osteopathic Foundation named orthopedic surgeon Steven J. Heithoff, DO, to its board of directors, according to The Times Herald

Here are five things to know:

1. Dr. Heithoff is an orthopedic hand surgeon at Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron (Mich.).

2. The foundation appointed him to serve a three-year term, effective Jan. 1.

3. Dr. Heithoff is the former chairman of the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is also a past president of the Michigan Hand Surgery Association and American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.

4. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American College of Sports Medicine and American Society for Surgery of the Hand, among other professional organizations.

5. After earning his medical degree from Des Moines (Iowa) University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Heithoff completed his residency at Garden City (Mich.) Hospital and hand surgery fellowship training at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
