Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Answorth Allen of Hospital for Special Surgery

Answorth Allen, MD, is orthopedic surgeon at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery.

A team physician for USA Basketball, Dr. Allen recently performed a successful arthroscopic stabilization surgery on the New York Knicks' guard Ron Baker. He is also an orthopedic consultant for the West Indies Cricket

Board of Control and St. John's University in New York City.

 

Dr. Allen has authored several articles and book chapters on knee, shoulder and elbow issues. He has received numerous awards, including the Luminary Award from the American Foundation for the University of the

West Indies, and was recognized as a Super Doctor in Orthopaedic Surgery by the New York Times.

 

Dr. Allen serves as associate professor of clinical orthopedic surgery at New York City-based Weill Cornell Medical College, where he received his medical degree. He completed his residency at The New York

Orthopaedic Hospital's Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City and underwent fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh.
