Orthopedic surgeon Dr. John Baker named 'Best in Medicine': 5 insights

The American Health Council named John Baker, MD, as one of America's "Best in Medicine."

Here are five things you should know:

 

1. Dr. Baker is the owner and head surgeon of Delray Beach, Fla.-based Allegiance Orthopedic and Spine Institute. He is licensed to practice orthopedic surgery in Virginia, Florida and South Carolina.

 

2. He received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, where he graduated in the top five of his class. He underwent fellowship training at the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond.

 

3. Dr. Baker has experience in spinal surgery, general orthopedics and sports pain management. He is looking to expand his practice in the next few years and add new physicians to his staff.

 

4. Dr. Baker is a former United States Navy Doctor and Officer.

 

5. He is an active member of the American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association and American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He volunteers as "onsite doctor" during the local high school's athletic events.
