AMA honors former American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons CEO: 5 insights

The American Medical Association honored former American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons CEO Karen Hackett with the Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award.

Here are five insights:

 

1. The Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award honors executives who have contributed to the goals and ideas of the medical profession.

 

2. During her tenure as CEO, Ms. Hackett worked with AAOS's board of directors and executive management to oversee more than 200 employees.

 

3. Ms. Hackett led developments of quality initiatives, such as the Clinical Practice Guidelines, Appropriate Use Criteria and other performance measures.

 

4. Additionally, Ms. Hackett grew AAOS membership to 38,000 and was nationally recognized for the organization's public service campaigns to educate the public.

 

5. Prior to serving as CEO, Ms. Hackett was the executive vice president and chief operating officer at the American College of Healthcare Executives.
