Dr. William Oppenheim receives Lifetime Achievement Award — 6 quick facts

The American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine honored William Oppenheim, MD, of Orthopaedic Institute for Children in Los Angles, with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the AACPDM 70th annual meeting in Austin, Texas.  

Here are six quick facts:

 

1. Recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award have contributed significantly to medicine and advanced research for cerebral palsy.

 

2. Dr. Oppenheim has spent his career improving care for children with cerebral palsy and other disorders.

 

3. He is a frequent lecturer, guest professor and is a member of various boards and committees.

 

4. Dr. Oppenheim also holds the position of emeritus chief and Margaret Holden Jones professor of Orthopaedics at Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He was the president of AACPDM in 2006.

 

5. After receiving his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, D.C., Dr. Oppenheim completed his internship at San Francisco General Hospital. He then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Washington in Seattle.

 

6. Dr. Oppenheim was a Girdlestone Scholar at Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, England, and a pediatric orthopedic fellow at Orthopaedic Institute for Children.
