Mercy ranked among top hospitals for orthopedic, spine surgery — 5 highlights

For the fourth consecutive year, Healthgrades ranked Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango, Colo., as one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery and Spine Surgery in 2016, according to The Journal.

Here are five highlights:

 

1. Mercy is the sole hospital in Colorado to be ranked in America's 100 Best for orthopedic and spine surgery for four consecutive years.

 

2. Mercy is ranked among the top 5 percent of hospitals in the United States for performance in orthopedic surgery and spine surgery.

 

3. Patients receiving care at the America's 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery have an average 37.1 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital, as opposed to hospitals that were not ranked on the list.

 

4. Healthgrades evaluated almost 4,500 hospitals around the United States for 33 of the most common inpatient conditions. Of these hospitals, they selected the 100 best-performing hospitals across all conditions or procedures.

 

5. Healthgrades' 2016 report reflects the stark differences between hospitals nationally and regionally.
