Here are 21 orthopedic surgeons making the news.

Leon Root, MD, a well-known orthopedic surgeon, passed away from low blood count complications.

 

Albuquerque-based University of New Mexico welcomed David M. Bennett, MD, and Eric J. Lew, DPM, to its medical staff. Dr. Bennett is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon who specializes in pediatric spine, deformity and trauma. Dr. Lew plans to help launch the UNM Center for Healing in the Lower Extremity.

 

Harold J. Schock, MD, will begin providing care for patients at Aurora Health Center in Kaukauna, Wis. Dr. Schock specializes in orthopedic issues including the foot/ankle, hand, knee, shoulder and elbow.

 

Geisinger's Orthopedic Institute in Danville, Pa., welcomed Mark Seeley, MD to its practice.Dr. Seeley is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon as well as a member of the American Medical Association and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

 

Zachary Jager, MD, joined Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center in Rapid City, S.D. Dr. Jager completed his hand surgery fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

 

James Jagger, MD, and David Myer, MD, joined OrthoIndy. Dr. James Jagger serves as the medical care director of OrthoIndy Urgent Care and Dr. David Myer is an orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon.

 

Philadelphia-based Aria Health welcomed Todd M. McGrath, MD, and Daniel E. Bronsnick, MD, to its Aria 3B Orthopaedic Institute.

 

James C. Wittig, MD, and Martin Malawer, MD, co-authored the second edition of the five volume series Operative Techniques in Orthopedic Surgery. The book gives explanations of various operative procedures in orthopedic oncology.

 

Jonathon Mathers, MD, joined Atlanta-based OrthoAtlanta Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Specialists. Dr. Mathers specializes in arthroscopic surgery for rotator cuff and ACL tears.

 

Joseph Dahlin, DPM, joined Grand Valley Foot and Ankle Center, based in Grand Junction, Colo. Dr. Dahlin completed his doctor of podiatric medicine degree from Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago and completed his residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

 

Phillip Mason, MD, joined Novant Health in Winston-Salem, N.C. Dr. Mason completed his pediatric orthopedic surgery fellowship at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.

 

Atlanta-based Resurgens Orthopaedics welcomed Deborah Kowalchuk, MD; Anuj P. Netto, MD; Phillip Walton, Jr., MD, and Mathew E. Levine, DO.

 

Kenneth Jaffe, MD, and Jordan Case, MD, joined Lemak Health in Birmingham, Ala.
