Scott Heithoff, DO, is now offering anterior hip replacement for select patients at Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron (Mich.).
Three things to know:
1. The anterior approach is intended to minimize muscle trauma, postoperative pain and dislocation risk, while facilitating faster recovery and better range of motion.
"Through this innovative approach, surgeons are able to replace the damaged hip joint from a vantage point that spares more muscle and healthy soft tissue, which helps patients return to normal activities sooner," Dr. Heithoff said.
2. Dr. Heithoff has been with Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron since 2002.
"At Orthopedic Associates, we are dedicated to continuing to provide the most advanced treatment options to our community, and as part of that dedication, I sought additional training in order to offer anterior hip replacement surgery," he said.
3. Dr. Heithoff is affiliated with Blue Water Surgery Center in Port Huron and Lakeshore Surgery Center in Fort Gratiot, Mich. He also serves as chief of the orthopedics department at McLaren Port Huron Hospital.
