Seven orthopedic surgeons making headlines this week:

Downers Grove, Ill.-based DuPage Medical Group appointed Anthony Romeo, MD, executive vice president to lead the development of a new orthopedic institute.

Al Gross, MD, won the Democratic nomination for U.S. senator for Alaska after receiving 74.9 percent of the vote.

Akron (Ohio) Children's Hospital appointed Todd Ritzman, MD, chair of the department of orthopedic surgery.

Pittsburgh Penguins team physician Dharmesh Vyas, MD, PhD, performed elbow surgery on Evgeni Malkin and shoulder surgery on Zach Aston-Reese.

Travis Roth, MD, joined Andrews Institute, continuing the legacy of the late Charles Roth, MD, who was an integral force behind establishing the Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based practice.

Chris Dodson, MD, operated on the left knee of Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons.

Jasper, Ind.-based Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center added Christine Stairs, MD, to its staff.
