Dr. Patrick Carey recognized by 'Irish America' magazine’s annual Healthcare & Life Sciences 50

Williamsport, Pa.-based UPMC Susquehanna Hospital orthopedic surgeon Patrick Carey, DO, was named to Irish America magazine’s annual Healthcare & Life Science 50, NorthcentralPA.com reports.

Here are four details:

1. The magazine’s annual Healthcare & Life Sciences 50 recognizes performance and contributions of Irish American and Irish-born leaders in medical care, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical devices, among others.

2. With expertise in sports medicine, Dr. Carey serves as UPMC Susquehanna’s director of sports medicine. Previously, he served as a sports medicine consultant for the Little League World Series and team physician for Williamsport-based Lycoming College athletics.

3. Dr. Carey also specializes in anterior cruciate ligament injuries, total knee replacement, meniscal and shoulder surgery and rotator cuff repair.

4. After earning his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Carey completed his residency and a sports medicine fellowship at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.
