US News adds patient experience ratings to physician profiles — 5 things to know

Practice Management

U.S. News & World Report collaborated with Binary Fountain to add patient experience ratings to online physician profiles.

Here are five things to know.

1. Binary Fountain is a patient feedback management solutions provider. Through this partnership, U.S. News will now publish Binary Fountain's patient experience ratings on its physician profile pages.

2. A recent nationwide survey found 75 percent of Americans say online ratings and reviews influenced their decision when choosing a physician.

3. Consumers using U.S. News' Doctor Finder site will be able to access an overall patient satisfaction rating, as well as up to 10 individual patient experience metrics. These ratings reflect patient feedback on factors including quality of communication, clarity of instructions, provider's attitude and follow-up.

4. Leveraging its Provider Social Index technology, Binary Fountain aggregates patient feedback from over 100 online sources using its Provider Social Index technology. It then uses a proprietary natural language processing engine to derive a rating for each of the 10 patient experience metrics.

5. Patient experience data will be added to the physician profiles across specialties over the next several months, beginning with family medicine physicians.

Here is more information on the patient experience ratings.
