Medtronic launches new system for minimally invasive spine surgery: 5 things to know


Medtronic unveiled its SynergyTLIF(SM) workflow at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons annual meeting, April 28 to May 2 in New Orleans.

Here are five things to know.

1. The system is a procedural solution for spine surgery that combines technology to create navigated minimally invasive procedures. It is designed to created fewer intra-operative surgical stems.

2. SynergyTLIF combines O-arm System imaging and StealthStation imaging guidance navigation to enable minimally invasive access, screw preparation and interbody disc preparation.

3. Medtronic designed the system for interbody placement of the Elevate Spinal System expandable interbody device and screw placement of the CD Horizon Solera Voyager.

4. Medtronic's CD Horizon Solera Voyager 5.5 System features percutaneous and mini-open rod insertion options to treat degenerative and adult deformity conditions.

5. SynergyTLIF workflow also incorporates the Elevate Spinal System's expandable cage technology to allow tailored lordotic expansion.
