ActivArmorTM partners with Alabama orthopedic clinic to launch 3D-printed casts

Fort Wayne, Ala.-based DeKalb Orthopedics & Sports Medicine recently partnered with biomedical startup ActivArmorTM in an initiative that will bring the company's 3D-printed casts and splints to the practice, reports Times-Journal.

Three things to know:

1. The 3D-printed casts are customized to fit each patient using a 3D body scan.

2. ActivArmorTM orthoses are prescribed for breaks, sprains and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

3. The company is providing DOSM with a 3D scanner to develop the 3D-printed, waterproof casts on-site.
