Trash Pandas pick medical partners, team physician

SportsMED Orthopedic Surgery & Spine Center entered into a multiyear corporate partnership with The Rocket City Trash Pandas, along with Crestwood Medical Center.

Under the partnership, SportsMED's Troy Layton, MD, will serve as team physician for the Trash Pandas, a minor league baseball team based in Mobile, Ala. The Trash Pandas are the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels.

The stadium club in the Trash Pandas' new ballpark will be called the SportsMED Stadium Club. SportsMED and Crestwood Medical Center logos will be displayed throughout the park. Both providers are based in Huntsville, Ala.

Dr. Layton has served as a team physician and consultant for the Gainesville-based University of Florida and Stillwater-based Oklahoma State University, as well as a consultant for the Milwaukee Brewers and Major League Baseball.
