Carlan K. Yates, MD, was recognized as Physician of the Year by the National Basketball Athletic Trainer's Association for the 2017-18 season, The Journal Record reports.

1. Dr. Yates is board-certified orthopedic surgeon at McBride Orthopedic Hospital in Oklahoma City.
2. He specializes in sports medicine, including shoulder, knee and total knee replacement surgeries.
3. After earning his medical degree from Oklahoma City-based University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Dr. Yates completed his residency at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City and a sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery fellowship at Orthopedic Research of Virginia in Richmond.
