Tri-County Orthopedics welcomes sports medicine, interventional spine specialist Dr. Ian Wendel — 4 things to know

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Nonoperative sports medicine and interventional spine specialist Ian W. Wendel, DO, joined N.J.-based Tri-County Orthopedics at their Cedar Knolls office at The Advanced Medical Center.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. Dr. Wendel treats a range of musculoskeletal conditions, including neck and beck disorders, ankle and shoulder injuries and various conditions which affect athletes. He is trained in interventional procedures and techniques, including diagnostic ultrasound, electrodiagnostics, ultrasound-guided joint and tendon injections, platelet-rich plasma, epidurals, medial branch blocks and radiofrequency ablations.

 

2. He received his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pa. He completed his residency at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in West Orange and Newark, N.J., where he served as academic chief resident. He underwent sports medicine and interventional spine fellowship training at Icahn Scool of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

 

3. He is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and sports medicine. He received his registered in musculoskeletal sonography certification in musculoskeletal diagnostic ultrasound.

 

4. Dr. Wendel brings his expertise in advanced nonoperative techniques and interventional pain management for the back, neck and spine to Tri-County Orthopedics, which serves as the official orthopedic provider to Madison, N.J.-based Drew University and several area high schools.
