Dr. James Andrews removes bone chip from Marlins reliever Nick Wittgren's arm — Wei-Yin Chen visits Dr. Neal ElAttrache

The Miami Marlins have a plethora of players visiting orthopedic surgeons as the season comes to an end, The Miami Herald reports.

Here's what you should know:

 

1. James Andrews, MD, removed a bone chip from the right arm of Marlins reliever Nick Wittgren.

 

2. Dr. Andrews is a founding partner of Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based Andrews Institute for Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine. He is one of the leading orthopedic surgeons in the world, and his center is internationally recognized for its sports medicine treatment. He is the medical director for the Tampa Bay Rays.

 

3. Marlins starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen will visit Neal ElAttrache, MD, to determine a course of action over lingering pain in his left elbow. Mr. Chen has a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament.

 

4. Dr. ElAttrache, a renowned orthopedic surgeon, is chairman of the board and program director for the Los Angeles-based Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic fellowship. He is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
