James Andrews, MD, founder of Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Ala., and John Wilckens, MD, team physician for the Baltimore Orioles and a physician at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, both recently evaluated Orioles prospective pitcher Matt Hobgood, according to a MASN report.
Both physicians said Mr. Hobgood had a strained rotator cuff but does not need surgery. The pitcher’s shoulder problems could date back to the 2009 season. He will be undergoing rehabilitation for the injury over the next six weeks.
