The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City has partnered with Regional Health to hire a team physician, full and part-time strength and conditioning coaches and an athletic trainer, according to a RapidCityJournal.com report.
Here are four things to know:
1. The school is a member of the NCAA Division II, and moving toward trying to ensure student-athlete safety.
2. Josh Sole, MD, was named the new team physician, and PMR board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and subspecialty board certified in sports medicine.
3. The training room at the school will be renamed Regional Health Sports Medicine Center.
4. Mines tight end Cameron Luna said that in the past, the training department has had a strenuous work load, and that a partnership with Regional is huge.
