Dr. Ira Guttentag to perform surgery on Lightning's defenseman Radko Gudas

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Tampa Bay Lightning team physician Ira Guttentag, MD, will perform an arthroscopic procedure on defenseman Radko Gudas sometime this week, the team says.

A heavy presence on the Lightning's defense, Mr. Gudas, 24, was injured against a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Dec. 29 when he fell awkwardly into the boards.

Dr. Guttentag has been the head team physician and medical director for the Tampa Bay Lightning since 2002. He has extensive surgical experience in the areas of Sports Medicine and Knee and Shoulder Reconstruction.

Last week, after a test run on the ice, Mr. Gudas returned to Tampa and underwent an examination, where the surgery was deemed a requirement.
