AOSSM Posthumously Inducts Dr. Alexandra Kirkley Into Hall of Fame

Alexandra Kirkley, MD, will be inducted posthumously into the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's Hall of Fame later this week, according to an organization news release.

During her career, Dr. Kirkley held academic appointments at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, and provided physician coverage to its varsity teams. She was involved with AOSSM in several areas, including the traveling fellowship.

In addition to her practice, she focused on research and had more than 60 pieces of published research in professional journals. AOSSM previously honored her body of work with the Sandy Kirkley Clinical Outcomes Research Grant to support clinical trials in sports medicine.

Dr. Kirkley and her husband died in a plane crash in 2002.
