Illinois Bone & Joint Institute Enters Partnership for CMS Bundled Payment Initiative

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Illinois Bone & Joint Institute has partnered with Girling Health Care to participate in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Bundled Payments for Care Improvement initiative.

Girling Health Care, a Chicago-based provider of home health services, and Illinois Bone and Joint Institute will coordinate to give patients access to streamlined care including all pre- and post-operative care involved in total knee and hip replacement.

Girling Health Care offers several services including joint replacement therapy, fall prevention and medication management.

The bundled payment initiative includes four different models, differing based upon providers and services involved. CMS will bundle payments for services beneficiaries receive during an episode of care and participating providers will provide CMS with a discount from expected payments.

In addition, providers will collaborate to reduce to lower healthcare costs and reduce readmissions.
