From surgeons focusing on additional areas in 2021 to a Navy commander leading a new procedure, here are seven spine surgeons making headlines.

Charles Bondurant, MD, has been elected to a newly created board that oversees operations at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Mo.

Five spine surgeons shared the other primary focus areas for 2021.

U.S. Navy Cmdr. Shawn Belverud, MD, led the Naval Medical Center San Diego's first spine surgery with a 3D surgical microscope.
