More than 99,000 people watched neurosurgeons Randall Graham, MD, and Bartley Mitchell, MD, remove a tumor from a patient's brain in an awake neurosurgical procedure on Oct. 29, reports The Dallas Morning News.

Four things to know:

1. Forty minutes of the operation was livestreamed on Facebook by Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

2. The patient suffered a stroke due to a mass of blood vessels in her left temporal lobe, which was affecting her speech.

3. The neurosurgeons opened the patient's skull in the awake procedure to ensure they did not damage the parts of her brain that control speech as they operated.

4. The video is narrated by Nimesh Patel, MD, chief of neurosurgery at the hospital.
