Phoenix-based Desert Institute for Spine Care spine surgeon Christopher Yeung, MD, received the Arizona Medical Association's 2018 Sportsman Award.

1. Along with having special interests in minimally invasive spine surgery, Dr. Yeung is involved in sports medicine.

2. Dr. Yeung served as a spine surgeon for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs.

3. He is focused on spinal injury prevention and spinal rehabilitation as well as various nonsurgical treatments.

4. Dr. Yeung is a principal investigator in different clinical trials and speaks internationally. He has published multiple articles on minimally invasive spine treatments.
