Here are four things to know:

1. In both proposed rules, CMS included information on physician and hospital payment for the CPT code 630X1 for endoscopic decompression of the lumbar spine.

2. The code is newly created.

3. Minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery has recently gained traction due to favorable literature demonstrating its efficacy.

4. Journal of Neurosurgery's February special edition includes a variety of endoscopic spine surgery studies.
