The Congress of Neurological Surgeons named University Hospitals' Neurological Institute Vice President Nicholas Bambakidis, MD, president-elect of the congress, according to a Sept. 21 announcement.
Dr. Bambakidis will start serving his term as president-elect in 2020 and begin his one-year term as president in October 2021.
He is a leader in the management of cerebrovascular and skull base surgeries, and edited three textbooks on skull base and cranio-cervical spinal surgery.
Dr. Bambakidis earned his medical degree from Cleveland-based Case Western Reserve University. He completed his residency and fellowship at Cleveland-based University Hospital.
In 2016, he became vice president and director of the UH Neurological Institute.
