Spine

Loma Linda (Calif.) University Health performed its first spinal tumor ablation with radiofrequency in September, the first time the procedure was performed in the Inland Empire metro area.

What you should know:

1. The procedure is used to treat tumors.

2. It notably allows the patient to return to their daily life faster than traditional surgeries.

3. Neurosurgeon Namath Hussain, MD, performed the procedure on Dave Romero, a patient whose stage 4 lung cancer caused a spinal tumor. Mr. Romero said he was discharged the same day with zero pain.
