Dr. Alan Scarrow becomes Mercy Springfield Communities president — 5 things to know

Neurosurgeon Alan Scarrow, MD, was named president of Mercy Springfield Communities, according to a KSMU report.

In his new role, Dr. Scarrow will lead Mercy's hospital and clinic services in several towns. This change is part of a year-long restructuring process combining responsibilities for the hospital and clinic operations, according to the report.

 

Here are five quick facts on Dr. Scarrow:

 

1. He was chairman of neurosurgery at Mercy as well as president of Mercy Clinic Virtual Care and Mercy Clinic Springfield Communities.

 

2. He is secretary for Congress of Neurological Surgeons and continues his practice as a neurosurgeon.

 

3. Dr. Scarrow earned both a medical degree and a law degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh.

 

4. Dr. Scarrow is replacing Jon Swope, who served as interim president of Mercy Hospital Springfield. Mr. Swope will now return to his role as president of Mercy's Central Communities.

 

5. Dr. Scarrow is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
