5 Spine Surgeons, Centers Involved in Recent Charitable Activities

Here are five spine surgeons and spine surgery centers recently involved in charitable activities.

Macon, Ga.-based Mercer University School of Medicine and the Georgia Neurosurgical Institute in Macon signed a cooperative agreement with the Yerevan State Medical University in Armenia to develop an educational and research program for its students and faculty.

 

Joe Maroon, MD, agreed to serve as the medical director for the "No Limits" expedition, in which 10 people who are missing arms, legs or both will climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.


 
Andrew Moulton, MD, of Sarasota (Fla.) Orthopedic Associates, recently returned from a humanitarian mission trip to the Dominican Republic.

 

UCLA Chief of Orthopedic Spine Surgery Arya Nick Shamie, MD, performed spine surgery yesterday that was broadcast to Tehran University of Medical Services in Iran.

 

The Orthopaedic & Spine Center in Newport News, Va., donated nearly $350 to the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula due to its supporters on Facebook.
