The system includes multiple rod insertion methods, such as muscle splitting and true percutaneous surgery. The expanded tabs provide rigid connection to instrumentation and there is a reducer that allows up to 20 mm of rod reduction. This was the second addition to the company's CENTRIC MIS Technologies suite.

AxiaLIF Plus System from TranS1. The AxiaLIF Plus System is designed for reproducible anterior retroperitoneal presacral access route to the L5-S1 vertebral bodies. The instrumentation is designed with the standard of care for fusion principles, distraction and stabilization of the anterior lumbar column. There have been more than 14,000 AxiaLIF procedures performed in the United States and 90 peer-reviewed publications that show safety, efficiency and biomechanics of the procedure.

BoneBac Interbody System from ThompsonMIS. The BoneBac Interbody System has a narrow shaped nose for easier insertion into a collapsed disc and allows direct graft injection while the inserter is still attached. The product includes two patents completed and five patents pending. The system restores disc height using insert-and-rotate capabilities.

coflex Interlaminar Stabilization from Paradigm Spine. The coflex Interlaminar Technology is an Interlaminar Stabilization device for one- or two-level lumbar stenosis from L1-L5 in skeletally mature patients. The device is implanted midline between adjacent lamina of one or two contiguous lumbar motion segments. The device is designed for shorter operating room time and hospital stays.

ES2 Spinal System from Stryker. The ES2 minimally invasive fixation system is a one-piece low profile integrated blade screw that includes a built-in reduction. The system builds on Stryker's Xia technology with the buttress threaded closure mechanism, a cortical cancellous thread pattern and secure screw-to-screwdriver interface. The system has power and navigation capabilities.

EVEREST Minimally Invasive Spinal System from K2M. The cannulated top-loading polyaxial pedicle screw system, EVEREST MIS, can accommodate titanium and CoCr rods for two different diameters — 5.5 mm and 6 mm. The system has a dual lead optimized thread pattern provides faster insertion and increased pullout strength and 70 degrees polyaxial range of motion that provides intraoperative flexibility.

EXPEDIUM VIPER 2 System from DePuy Synthes. The VIPER 2 System is intended for noncervical pedicle fixation and nonpedicle fixation for degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, trauma, spinal stenosis, curvatures, tumor, pseudoarthritis and failed fusions. The system includes more than 30 comprehensive instruments for multiple pathologies.

FacetLINK from LinkSPINE. FacetLINK uses two screws and a plated cross-connector assembly to stabilize the spine following a tissue-sparing midline or micro-surgical decompression. There are several sizes for plate assemblies and an expandable version to accommodate multiple anatomical and pathological scenarios. The device received FDA clearance earlier this year.

Revolution Spine System from Intelligent Implant Systems (IIS).  The IIS lumbar implant kit includes the single-fusion plates and screws and also the fully disposable instrument kit developed in collaboration with IIS supplier ECA Medical Instruments. The Revolution spinal fusion kits are single-procedure and disposable products designed to simplify workflow and reduce infection due to cross contamination. Instrument kit maker ECA estimates hospitals and ASCs using Revolution could save more than $1,200 per procedure with the disposable instrument kit for both minimally invasive and open procedures. The kit includes fixation instrumentation, cannulated torque limiters, ratchets and fixed drivers.

iFuse from SI-BONE. The minimally invasive sacroiliac joint procedure received a Category I CPT code on Jan. 1, 2015, and next year the outpatient reimbursement for the procedure will be up 14 percent to $10,538; the physician reimbursement for the procedure will jump 25 percent to $722. The iFuse Implant System was developed for MIS SI joint fusion for patients who have failed non-surgical options. More than 1,000 surgeons are trained with iFuse technology and more than 18,000 procedures have been performed over the past several years.

InterFuse from VTI. The InterFuse Interbody Fusion System is a modular interbody. It is a large footprint device that can be placed through a small unilateral access channel. The modules are placed one at a time and the devices lock into place in the disc space. The device can be placed through a tube system.

Marquise MIS Channel System from Amendia. The Marquise MIS Channel System is designed for easy sagittal movement through paraspinal muscle planes and improved access to the surgical site. The system enables minimally invasive procedures on obese patients and was developed to accommodate multiple instruments simultaneously. The technology was designed to reduce muscle ischemia/necrosis/scarring and improves visibility while reducing glare.

PediGuard from SpineGuard. Earlier this year, SpineGuard received FDA clearance to market its PediGuard products for minimally invasive surgery. PediGuard is a handheld device that alerts surgeons to potential pedicular or vertebral breaches. It provides real-time feedback via audio and visual signals and more than 35,000 procedures have been performed with PediGuard worldwide. PediGuard detects 98 percent of pedicle breaches.

Phoenix minimally invasive spinal fixation system from Orthofix. The Phoenix Minimally Invasive Spinal Fixation System has a built-in reduction tower that is removed after implant construct assembly. It's designed for reduced surgical steps and screw lengths ranging from 35 m to 55 mm. The rod inserter allows for minimally invasive delivery without the need for extra incisions.

REVOLVE from Globus Medical. The REVOLVE is a posterior stabilization system for minimally invasive spine surgery. The system was designed to reduce surgery time and lessen anatomic disruption. The device has multi-level capability and non-threaded locking caps to avoid cross threading and difficult cap placement. This is a low-profile system with surgeons performing the reduction using one instrument with the cap pre-loaded, eliminating steps.

Scorpion Articulating Inserter from Amedica. Developed for transforaminal lumbar interbody fusions, the Scorpion Articulating Inserter was released in October to accompany the Valeo II TL interbody fusion device system. The technology will aid in minimally invasive procedures and is indicated for use with autograft. They system is designed for greater control and accuracy for the silicon nitride interbody fusions.

SImmetry from Zyga Technologies. SImmetry is a device for minimally invasive sacroiliac joint dysfunction designed for fusion procedures. The technology is FDA-cleared and includes a range of threaded, cannulated implants and associated instrumentation. The implants are designed to transfix the sacrum and ilium for a stable bony fusion.

STALIF Integrated Interbody from Centinel Spine. Centinel Spine's STALIF device is designed to streamline complex surgical procedures and reduce surgical time with potential cost savings. The implants come in individually packed sterile packages with a reduced number of instrumentation trays. The implant has a no-profile design and was developed as a better match to the patient's anatomy. The no-profile design could reduce dysphasia and/or postoperative anatomical complications when compared with anterior plates and cage technologies.

SteriSpine PS Pedicle Screw System kits from Safe Orthopaedics. SteriSpine Kits include sterile implants and associated single-use surgical instruments designed for facilitating safer, optimized and lower-cost surgery. The kits are FDA-cleared and marketed in 16 countries. There have been more than 1,691 procedures using the kits since the beginning of 2015. A recent study showed the instrument kits reduced surgical time by 12 percent and there was minimal blood loss.

TYPHOON MI Transfacet Pedicular Screw from ChoiceSpine. The TYPHOON MI is designed for facet arthrodesis and posterior stabilization of the lumbar spine. The system has a lag section to facilitation facet joint decompression. The sharp threads through the cortical bone interfaces while minimizing damage. The dual pitch screw thread maximizes purchase and compression of the facet joint.
