Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Anthony Capocelli with OrthoArkansas

Anthony Capocelli, MD, is a neurosurgeon at Little Rock, Ark.-based OrthoArkansas.

He subspecializes in minimally invasive spine surgery and tertiary spinal disorders.


At a young age, Dr. Capocelli's aunt and uncle introduced him to the field. They were active in research. His career began after he earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at the Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Science. He completed an internship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, and a residency and fellowship at New York's King's County Hospital Center. He completed another fellowship at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York.


Dr. Capocelli is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.


Outside of his professional life, he has five children and a wife. During medical school, he worked as a DGR with NPR affiliate WBFO in Buffalo. His jazz fusion program was mentioned in Downbeat magazine in the late 1980s.
