Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Andrew Fabiano of Roswell Park Cancer Institute

Andrew J. Fabiano, MD, director of the Spinal Oncology Center and an associate professor of neurosurgery and oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He is also a clinical associate professor of neurosurgery at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Society of Neuro-Oncology and North American Spine Society. He is the site director at RPCI for the SUNY at Buffalo neurosurgery residency program.

Dr. Fabiano has earned a Continuing Education Award in Neurosurgery from the AANS, and he is a member of NASS' Robotics & Navigation Leadership Committee. He has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for a number of prestigious journals, including the Journal of Neuro-Oncology, The Spine Journal and BMC Cancer. He serves on the editorial board of JSM Neurosurgery & Spine.

 

Dr. Fabiano focuses on spinal metastatic disease, cerebral edema, laser interstitial thermal therapy, complex spinal surgery and intracranial endoscopy. His research interests include novel therapies for cerebral edema and radiation necrosis and innovations in spinal surgery. He has received grant and fellowship support a number of times over the course of his career, including the Thomas F. Frawley Research Award while completing a neurosurgical training program at SUNY at Buffalo.

 

Dr. Fabiano completed his medical degree at SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency.
