Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. John Bendo of NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases

John Bendo, MD, is the director of the spine service, clinical affairs at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. He is also an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at the NYU School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society and Scoliosis Research Society.

Dr. Bendo has a professional interest in the surgical treatment of degenerative spinal disorders, including herniated disc, spinal stenosis, and spondylolisthesis. He also treats scoliosis and kyphosis. He is extensively involved with clinical research and his work has been published in well-regarded professional publications such as Spine, The Spine Journal and The International Journal of Spine Surgery.

 

Dr. Bendo earned his medical degree at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed his residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, both located in New York. He has also completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases.
