"I think the great thing about being a spine surgeon is that you are the decision-making doctor and you can offer patients the best advice for their conditions," says Dr. Dillin. "Also, it's a renewable specialty, that is, a specialty in which you are acquiring new information all the time. That's what makes it stimulating, knowing that things change constantly and that you are a part of something dynamic, not static. You can keep up with new techniques and increase your fundamental knowledge."

Dr. Dillin earned his medical degree at The University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at University of California, San Francisco.
