Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Alan Moskowitz of Kansas Orthopaedic Center

Alan Moskowitz, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Kansas Orthopaedic Center in Wichita. He serves on the medical staff at Wesley Medical Center and Kansas Surgery and Recovery Center, both located in Wichita. He is also a clinical associate professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He previously practiced with Kansas Spine Specialists in Wichita.

Dr. Moskowitz is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society and the North American Spine Society. He is committed to lecturing and teaching orthopedic residents and has been chairman of an international spine teaching conference held annually since 2003 in Santa Fe, N.M., and Park City, Utah.

 

Dr. Moskowitz is board-certified and focuses on degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, spinal stenosis and low back pain. He also has experience in treating spinal deformities, such as scoliosis and kyphosis in children and adults, and especially complex reconstructive spine surgery as well as structural imbalance of the spine caused by spinal trauma or spinal tumors.

 

Dr. Moskowitz is also involved in humanitarian efforts, and in October 2013, traveled to Peru to provide medical care to under-served populations. The trip was organized by Salt Lake City-based Eagle Condor Humanitarian.

 

Dr. Moskowitz earned his medical degree at Albany (N.Y.) Medical College, where he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency. He has also completed a residency in pediatric orthopedic surgery at the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children in Philadelphia as well as a fellowship in scoliosis surgery at the Twin Cities Scoliosis Center in Minneapolis.
